What does the Doha Metro pro- ject represent? The Doha Metro is a completely new railway project that aims to modernise transport conditions not only in the city but also in Qa- tar, connecting it in the future with the country’s long-distance rai- lway network. Together with the construction of eight new stadiums, the metro is the key project for the celebration of the Football World Cup in 2022. What makes the project so com- plex? In my opinion, complexity should be analysed from two different perspectives. Firstly, from the cus- tomer’s point of view, the metro project involves the construction of a completely new transport sys- tem in the country, with a public entity (Qatar Rail) created speci- fically for this purpose. This enti- ty has been formed by a group of international technicians and new local administrators of the sector, with the mission of carrying out a project of great magnitude from practically zero. Secondly, from the company’s point of view, both this project and the Riyadh metro started at the same time, which involved an exceptional mobilisation of hu- man and material resources. The mobilisation took place in a very complicated and demanding en- vironment, with professional and social customs far removed from our own. Finally, with an impres- sive effort from all our people, we have managed to carry out this beautiful project, which we hope will help to increase FCC’s presti- ge in the world. What has FCC contributed to this project? Before answering this question, I would like to point out that this project was carried out during a difficult international economic pe- riod.
