R E S P O N S A B I L I T Y 30 R E S P O N S A B I L I T Y On 22 June, a reforestation was held in Ciudad del Niño, Chorrera (Panama), bringing together political representatives, employees and fa- mily members of FCC. The big refo- restation day was celebrated all over Panama and the volunteers planted trees produced in more than fifty nur- series of the Ministry of the Environ- ment (MiAmbiente) and members of the Million Hectares Alliance. For months now, the nurseries of “MiAmbiente” have produced more than one and a half million seedlings and have chosen places inside and outside protected areas, schools. For the past five years, Panama’s Mi- nistry of the Environment has been developing the “Alliance for the Mi- llion Hectares” project, in which FCC has been participating with tempo- rary access works to the planting area, donation of seedlings for plan- ting and volunteer participation with FCC collaborators and their families for planting. FCC Construcción in Panama participates in the initiative “One Million Hectares” FCC Construcción and society The company is part of the communities in which it operates by pro- moting social projects aimed at reducing aspects such as inequality, poverty or the risk of social exclusion. It is a way of responding to the needs of the communities in which it is present. It develops pro- grammes for the promotion of social development, culture, sport or health care. In addition, it understands that SDO is a new approach to solidarity and responsibility from which companies can and should contribute to the creation of a more sustainable world. Through its activity, it con- tributes directly to achieving more sustainable cities and communities (SDO11); it works for innovation in industry and infrastructure (SDO9); and is committed to decent work and economic growth (SDO8) and, from a responsible management, it contributes to the SDO related to clean water and sanitation (SDO6); and to action for the climate (SDO13); or to the reduction of inequalities (SDO10).
