construction Civil engineering In terms of civil engineering, FCC is building the Gerald Desmond Bridge in Los Angeles (United States). A project that includes the design, replacement of the old bridge and the construction of a new bridge, with a cable-stayed type, with a main span of 305 metres in length located 61 metres above the Back Channel of Long Beach Harbour. Las Playas Corridor (Panama) Other projects in which FCC is invol- ved abroad are the Las Playas Corri- dor, Sections I and II (Panama), where FCC Construcción and CICSA have been awarded the contract to widen the Beaches Corridor, Sections I and II, to six lanes. Section I aims to improve traffic for the 32.7 kilometres affected by the project, which includes design, construction and maintenance, thus improving the interconnection between the comple- tion of the Arraiján-La Chorrera mo- torway and the new Pan-American highway. Section II has a length of 21.8 kilome- tres. The execution of the infrastructu- re includes 13.7 kilometers correspon- ding to the Chame-Punta Barco zone variant, in addition to the design of two interchanges to improve the connec- tions between variants. Building In construction, FCC is constructing two buildings for the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) higher educa- tion centre on the Grangegorman campus in Dublin (Ireland). The Central Quad and East Quad buil- dings will be constructed in accor- dance with the Public Private Part- nership system. Upon completion, they will provide university services to 10,000 students and the staff of the Grangegorman Centre for Ad- vanced Study. El Alamein Desalination Plant (Egypt) As part of the FCC Group’s synergies, the infrastructure area is building the El Alamein desalination plant in Egypt jointly with Aqualia.
