Aqualia wins the “IDA Exceptional Utility Leader in Water Reuse and Conservation Award” in recogni- tion for its outstanding management of public and private services that have successfully implemented in- novative water reuse and conserva- tion projects. Shannon McCarthy, Secretary Ge- neral of the International Desalina- tion Association (IDA), expressed his thanks to Felix Parra for the “Aqua- lia’s incredible work” during the mee- ting that both have held today at the company’s headquarters in Madrid. In a subsequent gathering, in which some of the company’s directors have also participated, issues such as the upcoming challenges of the Aqualia is recognized by the International Desalination Association (IDA) for its leadership in water reuse water management sector, innova- tion, and the next congresses that the IDA will organize in 2019 have been discussed. This award recognises the com- pany’s extensive experience in water reuse and conservation. Since 2009, and in collaboration with more than 40 international research centres, Aqualia has implemented more than 30 R&D projects, which have produ- ced 11 patents, in fields such as the circular economy and the reuse of water and energy. Water reuse in one of the pillars of Aqualia’s circular economy com- mitment, but not exclusively. During 2017, nearly 20 Aqualia projects were Shannon McCarthy, Secretary General of IDA (International Desalination Association), handed the prize to Félix Parra, CEO of Aqualia. breaking new ground in biofuels, low energy desalination, smart metering and data analytics. These initiatives, which represent a great advance for the water sector and for citizens, de- monstrate Aqualia’s commitment to achieving more sustainable develo- pment from a social, economic and environmental point of view.
