Aqualia celebrates World Water Day Different events organised by Aqualia to celebrate World Water Day World Water Day was celebrated on 22 March. The theme selected by the United Nations for 2019 was “Leaving no one behind”. As part of this cele- bration, Aqualia launched several ini- tiatives in which nearly 10,000 people, mainly school children participated. For example, in the Zone 1 branch office, open door events were orga- nized at several of the facilities ma- naged by the Company such as the Moaña (Pontevedra) and Oviedo faci- lities, or tours to the water reservoirs that supply the city of Santander. In Zone II, besides visiting the El Moli- nar wellspring, in Alcoy (Alicante), the IV Environmental Seminar was organized in Arnedo (La Rioja) with the collaboration of the Town Coun- cil. Children’s events were organised in Zone III with workshops for experi- ments with water and plays in Ronda (Málaga) and Jaén; the inauguration of the Mamelón fountain restoration in Jeréz, play activities in the Apemsa Water Classroom in Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz), and organised tours for children at the Fonsalía desalination facility in Guía de Isora (Tenerife). In Sicily, Caltaqua handed out the prizes for the contest entitled “L’acqua è vita. Sprecarla è un crimine” (Water is life. Wasting it is a crime). W E L L N E S S W E L L N E S S 37
