FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente grows in the United States by securing a new contract in Minnesota

The city of Saint Paul, capital of the state of Minnesota, has awarded FCC Environmental Services, subsidiary of FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente in the United States, a new urban solid waste collection contract worth over $115 million (about €107 million). The service, which covers almost the entire municipality, is foreseen to last seven years and will begin on 1st November 2024.

The service will employ approximately 60 people from the region and will serve more than 300.000 inhabitants and plans to make a major investment of $25 million (€23.2 million). This investment will include the acquisition of over 30 new collection trucks fuelled by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and the construction of a CNG refuelling station, as well as the purchase of fully electric inspection vehicles and a lorry for furniture and bulky waste collection, also fully electric, which reflects the commitment of Saint Paul City Council and FCC to sustainability and the urban environment.

Dan Brazil, FCC Environmental Services’ new CEO and native Minnesotan, expressed that “the company is proud to announce this significant contract award and partnership, which represents a pivotal strategic milestone as we expand our geographical reach further into the Midwest market. We are honoured to bring our high-quality services and sustainability approaches to the Capitol city”.

This contract award is another testament to FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente's dedication and expansion in the Midwest, where it began providing waste collection services to 150,000 households in the city of Omaha (Nebraska) in 2020.

FCC Environmental Services is one of the largest municipal solid waste management companies in the United States, serving over 11 million citizens in the states of Florida, California, Texas, Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota.

FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente is the company which backbones the activities of the FCC Group's environmental services area. For over 120 years, it has been providing waste management and municipal services and currently serves 67 million people in 5,400 municipalities around the world.
