FCC ámbito, under the framework of the dismantlement project of the José Cabrera Nuclear Power Plant, which is to begin on reaching its end-of-life use, has been awarded a contract to design, construct and operate a land decontamination plant.

This innovative installation will help to manage and treat the land affected by low or very low radiological contamination, minimising the amount of radioactive waste generated in the dismantling works.

Furthermore, a number of environmental protection measures has been incorporated into its design and construction with aim of minimising any possible condition that may arise during its functioning.

The plant, which is currently in the final start-up testing stage, is expected to be operational for at least two years.
