FCC Ámbito obtains the 'Calculo-Compenso' seal

FCC Ámbito has successfully completed the process of verifying its Carbon footprint and entry in the "Carbon Footprint, Offseting and CO₂ Absorption Projects Registry" established by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.

For the 2022 financial year, it has obtained the 'Calculo-Compenso' (‘I calculate’-‘I offset’) seal awarded by the Spanish Climate Change Office, the scope of which includes the calculation and compensation of emissions associated with the consumption of electricity, fuels, industrial waste landfills, industrial waste treatment and hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) leaks generated by the organisation's activities

The double 'Calculo-Compenso' seal is awarded to organisations that calculate and register their carbon footprint and make effective participation in absorption projects.

FCC Ámbito is the company of the FCC Group whose activity focuses on industrial waste management and the study and decontamination of soils, activities closely related to the environment, so it carries in its DNA a constant concern for the care of the natural setting. Obtaining the "Calculo" seal is, therefore, an important step for the organisation in its contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The "Compenso" seal is awarded for its participation in the reforestation project "Galicia Regenera: Peimallo (Ponteareas)", in collaboration with the Community of Montes Vecinales en Mano Común de Valladares, in the conviction that supporting and carrying out reforestation projects is a good way of creating value for society, not only by absorbing CO2, but also because of the positive impact on biodiversity and the recovery of degraded spaces, turning them into usable areas for local communities.

With the achievement of this certificate, FCC Ámbito reinforces the environmental axis of its 2050 Sustainability Strategy, a road map for business development with a 30-year horizon that establishes very demanding objectives and commitments of high added value for the company and society as a whole, integrated into four lines of action: environmental, social, excellence and governance. This plan is aligned with the Spanish Long-Term Decarbonisation Strategy (ELP2050) of the Government of Spain.
