INDURAEES renews WEEELABEX certification at its electronic waste treatment plant in Palencia
INDURAEES, a subsidiary of FCC Ámbito specialising in the management of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), has renewed its WEEELABEX certification for the treatment of refrigeration equipment at its WEEE management plant in Osorno (Palencia, Spain). This international certification guarantees compliance with demanding technical and environmental standards in the treatment of this type of waste.
The certification obtained is specific to the WEEE flow of refrigeration equipment and guarantees the correct recovery of materials such as aluminium, copper, plastic and iron, as well as the safe extraction of oils and refrigerant gases, in accordance with the standards of the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation (CENELEC).
WEEELABEX is a non-profit organisation that audits and promotes good practices in the treatment of electrical and electronic waste globally. Its recognition places INDURAEES among the most advanced facilities in Europe, where currently only 23% comply with these standards.
The renewal of this certification reinforces the commitment of FCC Ámbito and INDURAEES to continuous improvement, the circular economy and environmental excellence, in line with the objectives of the new European Directive on WEEE treatment.
FCC Ámbito, has been treating WEEE for more than 25 years, manages more than 52,000 tonnes per year at six specialised facilities, including the treatment of household appliances and equipment such as photovoltaic panels.
